AUDITIONS
Auditions are required for vocalists wishing to join the Greater South Jersey Chorus. They are held throughout the year and are conducted by Dean Rishel, Artistic Director of the GSJC. A typical audition includes general vocalizing, exercises to demonstrate sight-singing ability and tonal memory, and a prepared solo of the auditioner's choosing. Prospective members must be at least 16 years old. Auditions are held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill, 401 Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, NJ. AUDITIONS FOR PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS
Auditions for the 20th Season of the Greater South Jersey Chorus are on the following dates:
Monday, August 8, 2011 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Monday, August 15, 2011 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Monday, August 22, 2011 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Prospective members may contact the Personnel Chair (856-858-0987) for further information and to sign up for one of the above dates. Audition will again be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill, 401 Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, NJ.
ARTIST SHOWCASE AUDITIONS (current Chorus members only)
Auditions for this year's Artist Showcase will be held Monday, September 12 before and during rehearsal time.
From Dean: If you are planning on auditioning, please have your classical selection in some presentable form of readiness. It does not have to be perfect, but it must show preparation and obviously be a work in progress and well underway. With the Artists' Showcase on October 16th, this will give those who are selected to perform a full month after your audition to polish up your presentation and have it performance-ready.
Remember: Artists' Showcase selections DO NOT have to be memorized.
CHAMBER SINGERS AUDITIONS
Chamber Singers is a smaller ensemble selected by audition from among the members of the larger Chorus. Auditions are conducted by the Artistic Director once each year prior to the beginning of the Fall Semester. Returning Chamber Singers members are required to audition anew each year. Individuals auditioning for the first time for the larger Chorus are encouraged to indicate their desire to participate in the Chamber Singers at the time of their audition. Selection of members for both groups is the decision of the Artistic Director. For more information about the Chamber Singers, please contact the Personnel Chair at 856-858-0987.
Chamber auditions for the upcoming 20th Season will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Chamber auditions are open call (first come, first served).
