Kenneth Ewan
Kenneth
Ewan is a graduate of Combs College of Music, Phila.
Pa., and
completed his graduate work in music education and choral conducting at
Westminster Choir College, Princeton, N.J. Mr. Ewan has been a long-time
music educator and conductor in public, parochial and private
institutions in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Recent posts have
included Camden and
Cumberland County
Colleges as choral
director, teacher of music appreciation, theory and private lessons. He
has lead special projects as music director for the CCC production of “A
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and various choral
collaborations with musicians from the Garden State Youth Orchestra, the
Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, Delaware Symphony,
and the Cumberland County Community Band. Mr. Ewan has performed
and studied with prominent choral leaders such as Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt,
Allen Crowell, Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe,
Dale Warland, Anton Armstrong and Robert Shaw. His conducting and
singing duties have lead him from
Vancouver to Florida. Locally he was a
member of the professional choral group, Lauda! Chamber Singers, the
Germantown Chorale (lead by Michael Korn) and the MasterChorale of New
Jersey.
Also a long-time music
director in church music, Mr. Ewan has served churches in two states and
is currently Music Director for the Unitarian Universalist Church in
Cherry Hill, N.J.
He is also currently co-chair for the Wilmington/Philadelphia worship
project of the JPD branch of the Unitarian Universalist Association and
a regular song leader at the UUA national conventions. Mr. Ewan is a
member of the American Choral Directors Association, MENC and the
Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network. He has been a regular teacher
and conductor for the UUMN/UUA conferences. In both 2003 and 2006, Mr.
Ewan was honored with the “Who’s Who Among American Teachers” award.
